The Botany Building seeks to reinvent the stereotypical commercial office building by making open natural environments through the use of crafted mass timber construction, integrated botanical planting and passive energy use.
The design process led to a distinctive office typology with underlying references to the surrounding industrial warehouses and to the advancement of glass technology as found within Victorian glass houses which is manifested into the proposal using slump cast glass.
Atop of the office space are 9 unique sky loft apartments that tailor the use of exposed mass timber construction within a domestic environment, that make further reference to the botanical motifs found throughout.
